BC PNP Issued 89 Immigration Invitations in Tech Draw
On November 30, 2021, BC PNP issued 89 immigration invitations in its tech draw to apply for Permanent Residency.
With the latest draw in the count, the total number of invitations issued by the BC PNP for provincial nomination has summed up to be 11,000. The recent draw was held under the tech stream of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program.
The candidates invited through the tech stream of the PNP were required to be eligible for both of British Columbia’s Express Entry BC and Skills immigration categories. The rules for eligibility are decided by the Skills and Immigration Registration System (SIRS).
The minimum score required for being eligible under this stream was a provincial score of 78 and the candidates invited belonged to the Skilled Worker and International Graduate subcategories. The invited candidates are given a period of 30 days to submit their application for the PR procedure to proceed.
BC PNP is an economic immigration route used by the Province of British Columbia to attract experienced and highly sought-after foreign workers. It is a pathway for the people who choose to live and work in British Columbia, to apply for permanent residence.
It has many sub-categories to help immigrants to settle in the province for whatever productive reason they want to.
What is the BC PNP Tech program?
Launched in May 2017 as a pilot program, the BC PNP Tech acts according to the province’s labor market study suggesting that the biggest issue for the province’s technology sector was lack of talent and fulfills this gap by choosing and inviting the desired skilled workers from all over the world to permanently live and work in BC. It was later converted into a permanent program after being a huge success. Foreign workers are invited to BC to add economic value to the labor market when the province falls short on local talent.
So, it can be concluded that the program is a fast-tracked immigration program that focuses on the foreign in-demand tech workers and international students who want to work and settle down in the province of British Columbia.
However, the candidates should be registered in one of B.C.’s provincial immigration streams along with having a valid in-hand job offer in one of 29 eligible occupations of the province.
This program demands the job offer to be a full-time offer with a minimum of 1 year bond period for qualifying.
This program sends out invitations weekly to the top-scoring, eligible candidates. After receiving the invitations, the candidates are given a period of 30 days to further proceed with the application. After that, the applications are processed within two to three months.
PNP candidates receive an automatic 600 points added to their CRS score, which then increases their chances of receiving the ITA in the subsequent draw.
