In the recent immigration news from Canada, three of the Canadian provinces published their Provincial Nominee Program draw results this week. Along with that, Quebec had its very recent draw through the Arima program.
The majority of the Canadian provinces and territories have their own PNPs and rules to conduct immigration. The exceptions are only Quebec and Nunavut at the time. These PNPs allow interested immigration candidates to have a chance of getting an invitation for the nomination. One should, however, note that provincial nominations are not the same as permanent residency.
It can only help you as the first step in getting a permanent residency for the candidates that are eligible by increasing their CRS score.
For example, PNP candidates who have Express Entry profiles and get a nomination are eligible for an extra 600 points on their CRS scorecard. This also makes them eligible for an invitation to apply for some PNP round of invitations.
British Columbia invited over 210 candidates to apply for its provincial nominations on August 23. The province also holds provincial nomination draws every week. Out of the total candidates, 205 were invited for a regional target draw that had tech occupations in demand.
These invitations were out to candidates in the Skilled Worker and International GRaduates categories. It also had Express Entry candidates on the list. This recent draw had Semi-skilled candidates and Entry level candidates as well.
The minimum SIRS points for the recent regional draw varied between 75 points for entry level and semi-skilled participants to 106 for Skilled workers along with Express Entry. CRS score is only in use during the PNP of British Columbia rounds.
The rounds also included:
The province of Saskatchewan had two recent draws. One on August 18, where 688 candidates received invitations with a minimum of 67 points. And the other one was on August 25, where 629 candidates got the invitations with a minimum of 65 points.
All the invited candidates were through the Express Entry and Occupations-In-Demand categories of the SINP. This also marks the province’s recent method of weekly PNP draws.
A total of 121 candidates received the invitation through Prince Edward Island PNP on August 18. Out of which, the majority were Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates, with a sum of 117 candidates. The rest of the four invitations were awarded to Business Impact candidates with a minimum provincial score of 97 points.
About once per month, PEI conducts draws and issues its calendar for the upcoming year.
Quebec has its own set of rules and programs while inviting immigrants. So, it doesn’t follow a PNP. Candidates interested to go to Quebec should submit their profile in the interest pool, famous as Arima. Officials conduct research through the profiles and invite the candidates who fit the most.
The Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI) conducted a draw on August 9 and invited 68 candidates to apply for permanent selections under the QSWP or the Quebec Regular Skilled Worker Program.
The invited candidates were supposed to have profiles in the Arrima interest pool, along with a valid job offer somewhere out of the Montreal Metropolitan area.
