Results for the Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) in Prince Edward Island and Manitoba were made public last week (along with British Columbia).
Prince Edward Island granted 147 invites to applicants through the Express Entry and Labor streams, 142 through the Labour stream, and five from the Business Work Permit Entrepreneur stream, on September 15.
Candidates for PEI nomination through Express Entry must file a distinct Expression of Interest (EOI) to the PEI PNP.
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) for Express Entry is used to rate EOI accounts, and similar to the CRS, the highest-scoring applicants are asked to submit applications via monthly lotteries.
Every month, Prince Edward Island conducts drawings through the PEI PNP.
On September 15, Manitoba issued invitations to a total of 436 individuals under various categories.
Out of the total invitations, 388 were issued to the candidates through the Skilled Workers category, 41 invitations went to the International Education Stream candidates, and the remaining 7 were issued to the candidates through the Skilled Workers Overseas category.
150 of the 436 letters of recommendation to apply in this draw were given to applicants who disclosed having a legitimate Express Entry ID and job seeker validation code.
Only applicants who were personally invited by the MPNP under a Strategic Recruitment program or who had an IRCC Express Entry ID and job seeker validation code were taken into consideration for expressions of interest from skilled workers overseas.
In this draw, candidates who declared they were employed in a regulated profession and held a valid Manitoba work permit were chosen. Nevertheless, applicants who are not genuinely engaged in a regulated profession and/or who fail to present proof of having completed all required licensing processes to be hired in Manitoba may have their whole applications rejected by the MPNP.
The PNP initially only accepted 400 immigrants after it launched in 1998, but thanks to its popularity, nowadays it accepts more than 80,000 immigrants annually. The provincial and federal governments of Canada have expanded the number of PNP entries because they see it as a useful tool for advancing the nation’s economic and social growth.
Apart from Quebec and Nunavut, the majority of Canadian provinces and territories run their own PNPs. Interested and eligible candidates may receive invitations from these programs to submit an application for a provincial nomination.
Provincial nomination can serve as the initial step toward optimizing and gaining your PR status and CRS score, even if it is not comparable to a permanent residence in and of itself.
For example, applicants for the PNP with Express Entry accounts who are nominated will see their score increase by 600 points. They also become qualified to be allowed to submit an application for a round of invites exclusive to the PNP.
