IRCC Conducts Latest Express Entry Draw On 2nd December, Highlighting Trends For 2024 And Beyond

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) continues its commitment to addressing Canada’s immigration targets with the latest Express Entry draw, where 676 candidates were invited under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). The draw, conducted on December 2, required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 705.

This event underscores the momentum built throughout 2024, with multiple draws targeting diverse categories and programs to align with Canada’s labor market and demographic needs.

Details of the draw: December 02, 2024

If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.

A Snapshot Of 2024 Express Entry Trends

As the year progresses, the cumulative issuance of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) reveals strategic prioritization of various categories:

In November alone, six draws were conducted, issuing 5,507 ITAs, showcasing IRCC’s robust processing and clear alignment with its Immigration Levels Plan.

    Francophone Immigration: A Growing Priority

One notable aspect of Canada’s immigration strategy is the increased focus on Francophone immigration outside Quebec. With a planned allocation of 29,235 admissions for 2025, the emphasis on French-speaking candidates is expected to grow further, reflecting Canada’s commitment to linguistic diversity and cultural enrichment.

This trend will continue to gain traction, with ITA allocations for French speakers set to rise in subsequent years.

    Understanding Express Entry

The Express Entry system is the backbone of Canada’s federal economic immigration programs, managing applications for:

The system evaluates candidates using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), a points-based metric assessing factors such as age, education, work experience, and language proficiency. Provincial nominations under PNP streams offer an additional 600 CRS points, significantly enhancing a candidate’s chances of receiving an ITA.
