The outbreak of COVID-19 made 2020 quite a challenging year for countries worldwide, and Australia was no exception. Last year, Australia’s Immigration realm experienced many changes from lockdown and closed borders to travel restrictions. In 2021, Australia is striving to smooth the immigration process and introduced some changes:

For 2020-21 program years, the migration plan remains the same at 160,000. The family stream will increase from 47,732 places to 77,300. To ensure Australia’s economic recovery post-pandemic, the government will prioritize Global Talent, Employer-Sponsored, Business Innovation and Investment Program visas.

The places for the Business Innovation and Investment Program increased to 13,500 and the operations for the Program will be streamlined from 1st July 2021.  

Application received under the Global Business and Talent Attraction category will be managed by a task force established by the government. The task force will target international businesses and the brightest skilled workers to Australia to ensure the country’s speedy economic recovery post-COVID-19.
