The Express Entry is the fastest pathway to Canada PR. The program operates three economic immigration streams namely the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
How does Express Entry work?
The Express Entry program is a point-based system that ranks candidates in a pool based on scores attained for the following factors:
- Core / human capital factors
- Spouse or common-law partner factors
- Skill Transferability factors
- Additional points
After the candidates are ranked, draws are held and those who match the cut-off are invited to apply for PR.
In addition to this, the provinces & territories can also enlist the candidates from the Express Entry pool and consider them for Provincial Nomination Programs, provided they are interested in the profile.
Those who receive a PNP get additional points and have higher chances of getting an invitation to apply in the next draws.
The Permanent Resident Visa gives an individual the status of a Permanent Resident, including the right to live and work anywhere in Canada without any stay limit.
Benefits of Canada PR Visa:
- Apply for Canadian citizenship
- Live, work and study anywhere in Canada
- FREE Healthcare and other social benefits
- Protection under Canadian law
There are different requirements for each of the programs. To apply under the Express Entry program as a skilled worker, a candidate must:
- Have worked as a skilled worker, for at least one year, in the last ten years, of continuous full-time (or equivalent part-time) work experience
- A minimum of CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark) seven in either English or French
- Have a post-secondary education, assessed against Canadian standards with an Educational Credential Assessment
These are the minimum requirements; however, candidates with better profiles have higher chances of getting selected from the Express Entry pool.
The candidate should lodge a personal resume in the Canada job Bank making mentioning this personal reference number. This opens up the profile for review by Canadian Employers, federal agencies and provincial governments.
The applicant must successfully submit the Express Entry profile. The many territories & provinces can afterwards explore the Express Entry bank and ask an aspirant to apply to their PNP Canada, and when the latter obtains a certificate for nomination, they will duly bring up to date their profile for Express Entry.
This will surely mean that the candidate will move up in the ranking in the CRS because he will get 600 additional points and an almost certain selection for an ITA in subsequent draws from the pool.
