Alberta PNP invited 100 candidates for provincial nominations
On November 24, 2021, the province of Alberta invited 100 Express Entry candidates through its PNP for provincial nominations. It was the second-smallest draw of the year and invited only 100 candidates while the smallest was in January with 50 invitations.
The latest draw of Alberta, although being a relatively smaller draw, had the second-highest CRS cutoff this year, at 350 points. The highest cut-off was at 360 points.
The number of invitations that can be issued every year by each PNP is decided and allocated by the federal immigration department, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), where the province of Alberta was allocated a number of 6,250 nomination certificates for the year 2021.
Alberta has already issued 6,094 nomination certificates as of now and the same could be the reason for the smaller draw of the province.
It is news that as of December 7, Alberta has approximately 400 Alberta Opportunity Stream applications and 825 expression of interest applications in the Alberta Express Entry pool.
How does the Alberta Express Entry Stream work?
The Alberta Express Entry stream is a fast-tracked or enhanced immigration program that is a PNP-aligned stream. This program allows the province of Alberta to seek qualified candidates in the federal Express Entry pool and invite them for provincial nominations from Alberta.
The Express Entry stream is a management program for the following three federal economic programs:
Your eligibility for the Canadian Express Entry stream is determined by the Comprehensive Ranking System score and the higher the score, the higher are your chances of receiving the ITA in the subsequent Express Entry draw.
Your CRS points are determined by various factors such as :
Age
Educational qualifications
Work Experience
Job offer
Language skills
Although it is quite possible for the candidates to migrate through the direct Express entry stream, applying for a PNP can add an additional 600 points to the CRS score, hence increasing the chances of getting nominated in the subsequent draw.
The AINP demands work experience in a relatively skilled position that is in demand in Alberta, while the province doesn’t provide a list of eligible occupations, rather provides a list of non-eligible occupations.
Certain factors like having a sponsor in Alberta, having a Canadian educational background, a job offer in Alberta, etc increase the chances of getting the ITA.
