BC PNP Tech draw issued 87 invitations for PR
British Columbia issued PR nominations to 87 tech workers through the PNP draw on 16th November. With the recent draw in the count, British Columbia has issued over 10,500 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination in 2021.
The recent invitations were issued under the BC PNP Tech stream.
What is BC PNP?
It is a provincial immigration program dedicated to the province of British Columbia to attract experienced and skilled foreign workers from all over the world to permanently settle and work in the province. These immigration programs are designed to boost the province’s economy and population.
However, the candidates were required to meet the eligibility criteria of one of British Columbia’s Express Entry BC and Skills immigration categories.
The invitations were issued to the candidates who were from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate subcategories, where the minimum provincial score was 75.
The invited applicants were then given 30 calendar days to apply for the nomination.
What is the BC PNP Tech program?
Launched in the year 2017, the BC PNP was initially a pilot program that gained popularity later and got converted into a permanent immigration program. It was initiated to meet the labor shortage in the province’s technology sector.
It is used by British Columbia to invite skilled international workers to settle and work in the province by providing them the Canadian PR.
It is a fast-tracked program that helps the in-demand tech workers and international students in getting the PR. The candidates should be enrolled in one of the BC PNP’s streams along with a valid job offer in one of the eligible occupations. The job offer should be a full-time offer with at least 1 year of the duration.
The PR invited applicants are required to submit a complete application, after which the tech applications would be processed within 2-3 months.
After the approval of the applications, the candidates would receive an Invitation to Apply, which can be used to apply for permanent residence from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) under the Provincial Nominee Program Class.
The candidates with a Provincial nomination would receive an automatic 600 points to be added to their CRS score, which can later increase their chances of getting the ITA through the Express Entry stream.
