British Columbia invites 108 tech-workers in new PNP Draw
The Canadian Province, British Columbia invited 108 tech-workers to apply for British Columbia’s Provincial Nomination on 5th October, through the BC PNP Tech, which is a stream under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program.
So far, British Columbia has issued over 9000 invitations for its provincial nominee program in 2021.
It is mandatory for the invited candidates to meet the requirements of one of British
Columbia’s Express Entry BC categories:
Skilled Workers (including Health Care Professionals category)
However, in the recent draw on 5th October, the Candidates who received invitations were from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate subcategories.
The minimum provincial score for the draw was 70, down by 10 points from the previous draws.
Now, the candidates have 30 Calendar days to go ahead with the nomination.
What is the BC PNP Tech program?
Launched in May 2017 as a pilot program, the British Columbia PNP Tech Program focused on the biggest issue that was ahead of the province’s tech sector, i.e., the lack of tech-skilled workers.
It became a permanent program after it showed huge success in fulfilling its mission of providing British Columbia with talented tech workers from all over the world.
It also gave the international tech workers and students a fast-tracked chance to permanently work and settle down in Canada’s province, British Columbia. The candidates need to have a valid job offer of at least 12 months in one of 29 eligible occupations along with the registration in one of B.C.’s existing provincial immigration streams, to qualify.
Must be from an eligible employer in the province.
Steps of the program:
Weekly invitations are sent to the top-scoring candidates who meet the eligibility requirements through the province’s tech program.
The invited candidates are then needed to submit a complete application.
It takes 2-3 months to process most of the applications.
Upon approval, the candidates will receive a nomination confirmation that can be used to apply for permanent residence.
One of the advantages of the PNP program is that the candidates automatically earn 600 points for the CRS score, which gives them a good chance of obtaining an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence via Express Entry.
