Canada Implemented Its New NOC TEER System
Canada New NOC Codes Effective Today!
The 2021 edition of the National Occupation Classification is now used in Canada. On November 16, 2022, Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) began evaluating work permit and permanent residency applications using the NOC system 2021.
The following list summarizes this new modification:
- Applicants must complete an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile in order to be considered for one of the 347 FSWP-qualified occupations and be included in the Express Entry pool.
- The target intake for FSTP candidates will be at most 3,000.
- Invitations to Apply may be sent to applicants with the highest CRS scores in the Express Entry pool (ITA).
- After obtaining their ITAs, individuals will now have 60 days to file a complete Canada PR visa application to the IRCC.
- The modification affects a number of different Canada Immigration and Work Permit channels, including the well-known Express Entry program in Canada.
TEER Categories
Previously, to submit an Express Entry application for permanent residence in Canada, applicants had to have work experience matching NOC skill categories 0, A, or B, which was compatible with the Canada NOC list 2016. After this modification takes effect on November 16, Canada will use the new Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibilities (TEER) system to determine a candidate’s suitability for professional experience.

FSWP and FSTP's new NOC codes
Federal Skilled Worker Program
Beginning November 16, applicants for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) of Express Entry must use the new 2021 NOC system.
Candidates who wish to be considered for the Express Entry pool must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile. There are 347 qualifying jobs under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP).

Federal Skilled Trades Program
Three thousand applicants are expected to get invitations as part of the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). The eligible deals have been divided into two categories: one with a sub-cap of 100 and the other without.
