Express Entry: Canada invites 613 candidates in new PNP draw for PR
On November 24, 2021, Canada invited 613 Express Entry candidates for permanent residency through provincial nominations. Canada has held many provincial nominations draws in 2021 but has still issued many invitations to the CEC candidates.
The minimum cutoff score for this draw was 737, including the automatic 600 points added due to the issue of the provincial nominations. And the cutoff without the nomination would have been 137 points.
The recent draw is the 6th PNP-aligned Express Entry draw. The previous draw of a similar kind had invited 775 candidates with a minimum cutoff score of at least 685.
The Canadian Express Entry System is one of the most popular and fast-processed immigration pathways of Canada, that processes the skilled foreign candidates’ application for PR, within 6-8 months. It manages the applications for the below three federal economic streams:
The Express Entry stream ranks the foreign applicants’ profiles by assigning them CRS scores. This CRS score is calculated by adding various factors such as age, education, work experience, job offer, etc, and invites the highest-ranking candidates for PR.
The candidates are given two options, either apply for a direct Express Entry stream selection or express interest in a PNP and get a nomination from it. However, getting a PNP nomination adds up to an automatic 600 points to the CRS score, which further increases the chances of getting an ITA for Permanent Residency in a subsequent express entry draw.
Following the pandemic, Canada had closed its border on March 18, 2020, and focused on converting the already admitted immigrants into PRs. In the year 2021, Canada invited the Express Entry candidates only from the Provincial Nominee Class and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) unlike the times when it used to invite Express Entry candidates from all the programs.
So far, Canada has invited 17,785 candidates through 33 PNP-specific Express Entry draws for permanent residence and 27 CEC draws which issued 133,868 invitations.
Canada has opened its border for fully vaccinated tourists and travelers and will only be open to people who are fully inoculated with a vaccine from an approved manufacturer, from January 2022.
