In its latest move to streamline immigration processes, Canada’s Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Department (IRCC) has issued invitations to 1,548 candidates in the recent Express Entry draw held on October 24th. These candidates were selected under the Provincial Nominee Program, each meeting the prerequisite of a remarkable minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 776.
Total ITAs issued: 1,548
Type of draw: Provincial Nominee Program
Date and time of round: October 24, 2023 at 14:23:38 UTC
CRS score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 776
Tie-breaking rule: July 07, 2023 at 07:28:57 UTC
If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.
In a noteworthy update that came into effect on October 1st, Express Entry candidates no longer face the mandatory requirement of undergoing an upfront immigrant medical examination (IME) before submitting their permanent resident application to the IRCC. While the medical exam remains a crucial element, candidates are now allowed to submit a blank document in the upload field of the Express Entry profile builder.
IRCC will provide detailed instructions regarding the medical examination process at a later stage. Importantly, candidates who have previously completed an IME as part of another IRCC application or those already residing in Canada are exempt from undergoing a second IME.
Express Entry functions as a comprehensive application management system, overseeing various immigration programs such as the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program.
The evaluation process relies on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which assesses candidates based on human capital attributes including age, language proficiency, work experience, occupation, and education.
The cumulative scores, with a maximum possible of 1200, play a pivotal role in determining the likelihood of candidates receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent resident status from IRCC. Typically, minimum CRS cut-off scores range between 350-550, occasionally varying based on the specific draw type.
These updates reflect Canada’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of its immigration processes, making it more straightforward for qualified candidates to navigate the path to permanent residency. As the Express Entry system evolves, prospective immigrants are encouraged to stay informed about these changes to maximize their opportunities in the Canadian immigration landscape.
