In a significant move to boost its skilled workforce, Canada kicked off the new year with the first Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on January 9, 2024. Ontario, one of Canada’s most populous provinces, took the lead by hosting the PNP draw, inviting skilled workers from around the world to contribute to its thriving economy.
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) conducted the draw under the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream. The draw targeted skilled trades occupations, aiming to address specific labor market needs in the province.
The province issued a total of 630 invitations in the first draw, focusing on candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 33 and above. This score range ensures that individuals with valuable skills and expertise are welcomed to Ontario.
Eligible candidates were those who had created their profiles between January 9, 2023, and the draw date, January 9, 2024.
In the same draw, Ontario extended an additional 821 invitations to candidates with a CRS score of 40 and above. This broader score range reflects the province’s commitment to attracting skilled individuals across various fields.
