First Express Entry draw of 2024

In the first Express Entry draw of 2024, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued invitations to 1,510 candidates on January 10th.
The draw was a general one, and candidates were required to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 546.
The general draw considered candidates from all Express Entry-managed programs, including the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). Unlike targeted draws, no specific occupations or human capital attributes were emphasized.

Details of the draw: January 10, 2024

If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.

Last Express Entry Draws In December 2023

The most recent four draws occurred from December 18-21. On December 18, an all-program draw invited 1,325 candidates with a minimum CRS of 524. The remaining three draws were category-based, with the December 19 draw inviting 1,000 candidates in trades occupations (minimum CRS of 425), the December 20 draw inviting 670 candidates in transport occupations (minimum CRS of 435), and the December 21 draw inviting 400 candidates in agriculture and agri-food occupations (minimum CRS of 386).
Before these, three draws were held between December 6-8, covering various categories. In total, there were seven Express Entry draws in December, marking the highest number in a single month for all of 2023. This came after a six-week pause from October 26 until the December 6 draw, for which IRCC did not provide a specific reason.

Canada’s Express Entry Plans In 2024

Looking ahead to 2024, the Immigration Levels Plan 2024-2026 reveals that Canada aims to admit 110,000 new permanent residents through Express Entry. This is a significant increase from the 82,880 candidates targeted in 2023. However, achieving this high target doesn’t guarantee that all candidates invited in 2024 will be admitted by year’s end. Some, especially those invited later in the year, may arrive in 2025 due to IRCC’s six-month service standard for issuing final decisions on Express Entry applications for permanent residency.
In 2023, IRCC issued more than 100,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to Express Entry candidates.
