New Immigration Pilot for Critical Workers Announced By New Brunswick
This pilot program is an initial step towards solving both the urgent labor shortage and the retention of newcomers in New Brunswick, which is also concerned about both of these concerns and acknowledges the importance of productive work in addressing them.
The NBCWP will collaborate with the following six New Brunswick employers:
- Groupe Westco
- Imperial Manufacturing
- Cooke Aquaculture Inc
- Groupe Savoie Inc
- J.D. Irving Ltd
- McCain Foods
These companies were chosen due to their excellent performance in the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP), their ethical hiring procedures for immigrants, and the fact that they already have the required settlement plans in place. These employers’ engagement requires them to:
- Establish higher levels of commitment to long-term recruitment and robust settling strategies for transportation and housing to better benefit candidates' smooth integration into their new workplaces and communities;
- Have a thorough human resources plan in place for locating and hiring qualified international personnel as well as for enhancing skills while on the job;
- The applicant shall get up to 200 hours of language instruction as needed;
- Give candidates advice and assistance if they decide to seek their Canadian secondary education comparability.
In order to ensure that the five-year pilot program continues to be attentive to immigration requirements and achieves the intended results for the province, it will be examined and assessed on a regular basis.
