The province has issued a total number of 30 ITAs under the Entrepreneur Stream and British Columbia issued 177 ITAs in a general draw. Ontario and British Columbia announced the results of their Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws this week. Most Canadian provinces and territories (with the exception of Quebec and Nunavut) have their own PCP.
Through these programs, interested candidates may be invited to apply for provincial nominations. As soon as the PNP was established in 1998, it hosted just 400 immigrants. However, it has proven so successful that Canada now welcomes over 80,000 immigrants annually through the PNP and obtains Canadian citizenship.
The boost in PNP enrollment in Canada is due to the fact that the federal and provincial governments see it as an authoritative means to heighten the country’s economy. Ontario held its PNP on August 16 as part of the Entrepreneur Stream.
The province has sent out invitations to 30 candidates with scores between 138 and 160. This is the first draw on Entrepreneur Stream since 2021. As with all Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) categories, candidates in this group must submit an Expression of Interest, but they receive an invitation to apply (ITA), they must attend a mandatory interview and sign a Performance Agreement.
If booming, they will be approved a temporary work permit to immigrate to Canada, then put into action a business plan and complete a final assessment 20 months after arrival. If candidates meet the business necessities, they will be asked over to give credentials to demonstrate their Canadian permanent residency status.
if it is in the greater Toronto Area (GTA) then immigrants must provide to at least 2 Canadians or PR visa holders. However, if the business is outside GTA, only one employee is enough.
On August 16, more than 223 candidates were invited to apply for the BC provincial nomination program. The province typically holds a provincial nomination draw on a weekly basis. The majority of candidates (177) were invited to participate in the latest draw which included skilled jobs.
Invitations have been sent to candidates in the Skilled Worker and International Graduate categories, which also include Express Entry applicants. Beginner and semi-skilled candidates also participated in the general draw.
Minimum SIRS scores for general draws range from 132 for Express Entry skilled workers to 78 for entry and semi-skilled candidates. SIRS behaves like the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), but only for the British Columbia PNP.
Express Entry is an online application management system used to rank and evaluate candidates from the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program. Candidates in these programs enter a pool and are ranked against each other using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
The CRS scores them based on their work experience, language skills, education, and other human capital factors. Obtaining a provincial nomination increases an individual’s CRS score by 600 points and makes them highly likely to receive a permanent residence ITA from IRCC.
