Ontario invited 546 Immigration Candidates to Apply for Provincial Nominations

Ontario invited 546 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination in its new rounds of invitations held on October 20. The invited candidates had profiles in the Expression of Interest (EOI) pool.

The candidates invited in this draw were eligible under the following three categories

However, the candidates who were invited through the latest draw should be eligible according to the requirements of one of British Columbia’s Express Entry BC and Skills immigration categories. This is managed by the Skills and Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

The draw had a minimum cutoff of 75 and was only for the candidates from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate subcategories. The invited candidates are given a period of 30 days to apply for the provincial nomination.

With the latest draw in the picture, British Columbia has issued nearly 10,000 invitations since January 2021.

Four invitations were issued to eligible candidates for the Foreign Worker Stream under the Economic Mobility Pathways Project, along with 479 international graduates to apply for the Master’s Graduate stream and 63 invitations to the candidates who may be eligible for the Ph.D. Graduate stream.

It was compulsory for all the invited candidates to submit a profile in Ontario’s Expression Of Interest system.

The cutoff score for each of the streams was:

For Master’s- a score of at least 35
For a Ph.D.- a score of at least 25
They should have a valid job offer of at least 12 months under one of the 29 eligible jobs in the province. There should be at least 120 days remaining at the time of application to the BC PNP. And the job should be a full-time job.

This is the second-largest Master’s Graduate stream draw since Ontario adopted an Expression Of Interest system for its Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) that are not using the Express Entry system.

All the previous draws, including this one, shows that the master’s degree draws are larger and have a higher cut-off score due to the increasing number of qualified applicants entering the EOI system. According to Canadian statistics, Ontario sees thousands of international students graduate with a master’s degree and hundreds of Ph.D. graduates each year.

What is the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream?

The foreign nationals with a valid job offer from an employer of Ontario are eligible for this program. However, applicants are not required to apply from within the country if they meet the eligibility requirements.

To apply for this program, go to the Ontario Website and register an EOI profile on the platform.

It will enter the EOI pool soon after registration and receive a score by the province based on the provided information.

What are the Master's Graduate and Ph.D. Graduate streams?

Candidates should sign up with Ontario’s e-Filing Portal and register an EOI for their chosen graduate stream, to be eligible for the Master’s Graduate or Ph.D. Graduate stream.

After evaluation of the applications, the province of Ontario invites the eligible candidates to apply for a provincial nomination.

Although it is not compulsory to have a job offer to apply for this program, the candidates should submit the applications within 2 years of graduation.
