Express Entry Draw of the Week: Healthcare Occupations Targeted

Canada’s Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) recently conducted its third Express Entry draw of the week on October 26th.
In this particular draw, the department issued 3,600 invitations to apply (ITAs) for healthcare occupations through a category-based selection process. To be considered, candidates needed to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 431.

    Details of the draw:

If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.
This draw follows two others earlier in the week. The first, on October 24, was exclusively for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), inviting 1,548 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 776 to apply.PNP candidates typically have higher minimum CRS scores because those nominated by a province automatically receive an additional 600 CRS points.
The second draw, on October 25, invited 300 candidates in a category-based selection for French-speaking proficiency, requiring a minimum CRS score of 486.

Express Entry Draws Since June 2023:

A notable change as of October 1 this year is that Express Entry candidates no longer need an upfront immigrant medical examination (IME) before submitting their permanent resident application to IRCC. While the IME remains a requirement, candidates can submit a blank document in the Express Entry profile builder’s upload field. IRCC will provide further instructions on the medical exam later.
Those who already completed an IME as part of another IRCC application or are residing in Canada do not need to undergo a second IME.

    What is Express Entry?

Express Entry is an application management system overseeing programs like the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program. Candidates are evaluated using the Comprehensive Ranking System, which considers attributes like age, language ability, work experience, occupation, and education. The highest-scoring candidates are most likely to receive an ITA for permanent resident status.
