Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry
The Nova Scotia Demand stream is for highly skilled individuals who can contribute to the province’s economy. To be eligible under this scheme, a candidate must have a job offer from an employer in Nova Scotia or work experience in one of Nova Scotia’s in-demand occupations. The Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry is one of the most preferred options to migrate to Nova Scotia. Under this category, the applicant does not need a sponsoring employer and can apply online. The Express Entry pool ranks candidates in the pool based on many factors including:
- Age
- Education
- Years of experience
- Language proficiency
- Arranged employment in the province
- Adaptability
The Nominee programs of Nova Scotia can be classified into two categories – Category A and Category B.
Category A:
o be eligible for streams under this category, the applicant needs a valid full-time job offer from an employer in Nova Scotia
Category B:

Nova Scotia International Graduate Entrepreneur
The International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream targets recent graduates from universities and colleges of Nova Scotia who bought or started a business in the province and operated it for at least one year. Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities
This stream is for Express Entry candidates with work experience in extremely high-demand positions in Nova Scotia. Currently, the Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities Stream is only accepting applications from Early Childhood Educators and Assistants (NOC 4214).
Nova Scotia Occupations in Demand
The Nova Scotia Occupations in Demand stream is meant for workers with a job offer in-demand field from an employer in Nova Scotia. Currently, the following occupations are eligible for this stream:
- NOC 3413 (nurses aides, orderlies and patient service associates); or
- NOC 7511 (transport truck drivers)

Eligibility for Nova Scotia PNP
The pathways under the Nova Scotia Nominee Program have their eligibility criteria. Some of the common requirements in each of the visa streams are listed below:
- Ensure that your age falls within the 18 - 49 years bracket.
- Verify that the position you're seeking is in high demand.
- Having one year of work experience is mandatory for Nova Scotia PNP program applicants
- You must attain a minimum score of either 4.5 in IELTS or a 5 in CLB on the English proficiency test.
- Your academic credentials must be equivalent to a degree or qualification from a Canadian university or college, as approved by ECA.
- Clearly articulate your desire to become a Canadian citizen in Nova Scotia.
- Preference is given to Express Entry candidates with a high CLB score.
IELTS requirements for Nova Scotia PNP
To be eligible for the Provincial Nominee Program of Nova Scotia, immigrants must demonstrate English language proficiency and valid IELTS results. A Candidate must score a minimum of CLB 7 across all sections to increase their chances of receiving a nomination from the province.
How to Complete the Nova Scotia PNP Application?
- Step 1: Begin by filling out the online provincial nomination form.
- Step 2: Ensure thorough and accurate completion, and attach all required documents.
- Step 3: Include copies of language proficiency test results and proof of education. If your educational credentials were obtained outside Canada, include an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).
- Step 4: Submit your application to the immigration office and enter the Express Entry Pool.
- Step 5: If nominated from the Express Entry Pool based on job offer and point system, authorities will contact you for further processing.
What are the Charges for Nova Scotia PNP?
There are no application fees for the Nova Scotia Nomination.
However, the application for Canadian Permanent Residency incurs a fee of $550 for the primary applicant.
What is the Duration for Nova Scotia PNP Processing?
The typical processing time for the application is six months.
