Federal Skilled Worker
All applicants for the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program must have a minimum of one year of experience in a skilled job. For foreign nationals residing outside of Canada, however, this program may be the best immigration choice since it does not require a connection to Canada. Please be aware that the program has stringent eligibility requirements including age, level of education, work experience, and language proficiency.

Provincial Nominee Programs for Skilled Workers
The provinces and territories of Canada run special immigration policies tailored to their particular economic and demographic requirements. Programs for provincial nominees are known as PNPs. There are many options available for skilled employees because many of these programs are aimed at filling labor shortfalls in the provinces and territories.
Quebec Skilled Worker Immigration
There are two steps involved in submitting an application for permanent residence through the province of Quebec. To obtain a Certificat de Selection du Québec (CSQ), one must first apply to the Quebec government. The federal immigration authorities of Canada will accept paper applications for permanent residence from applicants who have CSQs. Quebec Experience Program
Skilled workers must reside in Quebec and have completed 12 months of full-time, skilled work experience there within the past two years in order to be eligible for the Québec Experience Program. The program has higher eligibility standards but a quicker processing period than Quebec Skilled Worker. Candidates must have advanced intermediate oral French proficiency to be considered for this program.
Quebec Skilled Worker
For competent individuals who reside outside of Quebec, the Quebec Skilled Worker Program may be an alternative because it is not necessarily connected to Quebec. The QSW program uses a points system to evaluate applicants and determine who is eligible for the program. Candidates that are interested must use the Arrima Portal to submit an electronic EOI.
Work Permits
The pursuit of a temporary work visa can be of interest to skilled workers who wish to work in Canada but are ineligible for an existing immigration scheme. The candidate’s eligibility for immigration programs for permanent residency may be improved by the job experience obtained while on a temporary work visa. Candidates typically need an offer of employment from a Canadian employer in order to get a work permit.
