Located in the eastern part of Canada, Quebec operates numerous pathways to foreign nationals planning to migrate to Canada and attain permanent residence. Quebec has a skill-oriented system that caters to its market needs.
It is the only province where the official language is French. As a result, some of the immigration programs require French proficiency or preference individuals proficient in French. However, the province also has pathways for non-French speakers who wish to settle in Quebec.
The Quebec Experience program allows applicants to apply for a Québec selection certificate (CSQ). After receiving a CSQ, an applicant can submit an official application for Canadian permanent residence. To apply under the Quebec Experience Program, the applicant must:
The Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSW) allows experienced skilled workers to immigrate to Quebec and settle in the province and attain Canada Permanent Residence. It is a point-based immigration program where applicants get points for various factors such as age, work experience, language etc.
QSW is a points-based immigration program, meaning applicants must meet a minimum score on a point’s assessment grid to be eligible for the program. Applicants do not have to demonstrate French proficiency for the Quebec Skilled Worker Program, but those proficient in French can attain a score on the point’s assessment grid.
To be considered for the QSW program, eligible candidates must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the Arima online portal.
The Quebec Experience Program (PEQ) targets temporary foreign workers or international students with Quebec work experience. Candidates applying under PEQ must demonstrate advanced intermediate knowledge of oral French. The applicant must be legally residing in Quebec while applying and when the application is processed.
Under this program, investors with the required skills & assets to develop and own a business in Quebec can immigrate to the province and attain Canadian Permanent Residence. To be eligible under this scheme, applicants must have total net assets of at least CAD 2 million and the ability to invest at least CAD 1.2 million with a Quebec financial intermediary.
Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria can obtain permanent residence in Canada through the Quebec Investor Program.
The Quebec Entrepreneur Program targets entrepreneurs with the financial capacity and experience required to establish a new project or manage an existing business within Quebec.
The Self-Employed Worker Program is one of the immigration pathways designed for self-employed people to move to Quebec. To qualify for the Self Employed Program, the applicant needs net assets of at least CAD 100,000 accompanied with two years of experience as a self-employed worker in the field they want to practice in Quebec.
With a per capita GDP of $45,511 and a prosperous economy, Quebec boasts higher living standards and superior education, drawing top-level talents from all over the world by extending easy immigration paths for them.
